Meet Our Acceptance Illustrator: Robert Beatty
A monthly theme inspires new conversations and ideas that we otherwise wouldn’t think about. At our virtual events, speakers are invited to share a story around the theme and what it means to them. After a month, we are excited to see the talks and inspiration that are born out of the theme.
Given that these monthly illustrations are at events all around the world, it’s only right that we get to know the illustrator. It is a tradition at CreativeMornings to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for the monthly theme.
CreativeMornings/Lexington chose May’s exploration of Acceptance and Robert Beatty created the accompanying illustration.
We’re excited to share some of our favorite artworks created by Robert!
About Robert Beatty
Robert Beatty is an artist and musician based in Lexington, Kentucky. His work makes use of outmoded technology and digital emulation of archaic analog techniques to yield organic and otherworldly results. Best known as a prolific album cover artist, his illustration work has been in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Surfer Magazine, The New Republic, and on album covers for Tame Impala, Kesha, The Flaming Lips, and the Weeknd.
About the Illustration
“I approached my piece for the theme of acceptance in the way that you have to be able to literally ‘accept’ the things you are given and figure out how to make them work, which can be overwhelming but ideally ends up rewarding.”

In 2019, Robert Beatty was CreativeMornings/Lexington’s speaker on the theme of Surreal. He discusses the power of art as a portal to open up new worlds. Growing up in a small Kentucky town, Beatty credits his art and process to an innate curiosity, a drive to discover and curate influences. Ultimately, he hopes that his art can open up new worlds for others, inspiring a similar sense of curiosity and exploration.
