Meet Our PATTERN illustrator: Nishant Saldanha

Each month, CreativeMornings has a different theme for the talks given at our local chapter events around the world. It is our tradition to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for each monthly theme.

Our theme for June is PATTERN. It was chosen by our Chennai chapter and illustrated by Nishant Saldanha.

Nishant is an artist who uses drawing, writing, and photography as the core practices in his work.

He studied Art and Design at Central Saint Martins, London before moving to California Institute Of The Arts, Los Angeles, where he majored in Character Animation and Filmmaking in 2016. After working in the animation industry and being part of the independent comics community in America, he moved back to Goa, India to pursue an independent art practice.

His best-known work, Mr. Good Guy, is an award-winning, character-driven comic with an experimental approach to form and visual storytelling. This work won him a position in the prestigious Best American Comics Anthology published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2019 and also an inclusion in the 50 Most Influential Young Indians under 40 by GQ magazine which cited his lateral approach to image making.
