Meet our TRUST illustrator: Ibrahim Nasir

Each month, CreativeMornings has a different theme for the talks given at our local chapter events around the world. It is our tradition to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for each monthly theme.

Our theme for July is TRUST. It was chosen by our Islamabad chapter and illustrated by Ibrahim Nasir.

Ibrahim is a brand designer and visual artist who strives to push the boundaries to find the sweet spot where creativity, commerce, and self-actualization intersect. He enjoys spending time offline, making meaningful art, and reading unpopular literature. He also loves rooting for underdogs, discovering talented people and hearing untold stories.

Ibrahim shared the following artist statement about his illustration for our theme of TRUST.

In this artwork, I’ve captured the essence of trust through a visual metaphor of bubbles. Bubbles are inherently fragile; they aptly symbolize the delicate nature of trust. as it can easily be broken. However, when nurtured and strengthened, trust propels individuals beyond mere rationality, enabling them to pursue endeavors such as love, art, science, and selflessness. It’s the catalyst for taking risks and making leaps of faith.

The artwork juxtaposes two scenarios to illustrate the dual effects of trust. On one hand, there’s the figure walking on a tightrope, symbolizing risk taking, self-confidence and boldness, these are the traits empowered by trust. On the other hand, two people stand peacefully on a balcony, calmly observing the worlds below—a portrayal of the tranquility and contentment that trust can bring. The Stoics describe this with the word euthymia, which is a state of quiet satisfaction, a balance of emotions that defeats fears

In my composition, I’ve represented multiple earths all encased in bubbles of trust. The individuals standing on the balcony appear to inhabit a separate world, as the city skyline visible beneath them suggests. The purpose is to convey that trust is intricately linked to our personal perceptions and beliefs—our own subjective worlds, which are formed by our own unique hopes and beliefs.

The true significance of something often becomes apparent in its absence. Think back to a moment when someone shattered your trust in yourself or in a relationship; the impact of that experience is monumental. Trust is the unseen force that shapes our everyday life, making the world go round for us. Yet, when trust is broken, we lose connection with the world. It gets difficult to even contemplate the perspectives of others or the world at large without the foundation of trust.
