Ready for the talk by Yolanda van de Berg, curator at dick bruna huis @inderuimte.

Who has not heard of design icon Nijntje/Miffy? A creation by Utrecht illustrator, graphic designer and writer Dick Bruna (1927), and widely loved from Utrecht all the way to Tokyo. Yolanda van den Berg is the curator of the dick bruna huis and will be our guest on the 20th of June (that’s this Friday).

Tickets are released monday at 10 am for this Friday the 20th of June. The dick bruna huis displays a permanent representative selection of Dick Bruna’s oeuvre. Yolanda will talk about the work Dick Bruna made during his long career (and still makes). She will tell us all about famous Nijntje and the other characters like Poppy Pig, Boris Bear and the little dog Snuffy. But also the work he did for “Zwarte Beertjes” paperback and his more abstract work.

Ofcourse Yolanda will talk about the choices she makes as a curator for the dick bruna huis. Her own view on his work and the designs that inspire her. And how she translates the educational vision of Dick Bruna into an appealing display for kids as well as their parents.

Tickets are released monday at 10 am for this Friday the 20th of June.

“The web has given us many new forms of freedom. Freedom to share our knowledge easily. Freedom to distribute our stuff with anybody who wants it. Freedom to communicate with people we’d never be able to meet without it.There are many people who can give great talks about all these very important forms of freedom. But instead of asking them, the organisers of CreativeMornings asked me to talk about the material the web is made from. And about the unique kinds of freedom this beautiful material gives us. And about the wonderful things we can make with it.”

"In 2008, artist Todd Selby, aka The Selby, started photographing his friends in their own homes in New York. He wasn’t quite sure where the idea came from, but the results were amazing, helping him to develop a major following online. Selby began receiving requests from people around the world who also wanted their personal spaces snapped, with his site reaching the milestone of 100,000 daily visitors.”

The Shutterstock blog team interviewed Selby on the release of his new book, Fashionable Selby. Dig in. →
