Frances Goodman

Frances Goodman was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1975 and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1997. Shortly thereafter, this was supplemented by both a Postgraduate Diploma in 1999 and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, awarded by the prestigious Goldsmiths at the University of London in 2000.

From early on in her career, Goodman cemented her practice within the international field of contemporary art by showcasing her debut solo exhibition, Intimate / Inanimate Moments in 2000 at The Process Room, Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin.

Throughout her career, Goodman’s work has also formed part of a number of group exhibitions in both South Africa and abroad.
Frances Goodman was a recipient of the Cecily Brown Fellowship for Outstanding Woman Artists in 2014 and subsequently participated in The Fountainhead Residency programme in Miami during the latter part of 2015.
