Sometimes, great tragedy is the catalyst for great adventure.
Not long after her dear friend killed herself, Amelia Torres placed her own call to a suicide prevention hotline. Mental illness and depression run in her family, and were part of her DNA. Or so she thought. Ultimately Amelia realized there was no one in the world who could help her. Just like there was no way for her to help her friend when she felt so desperate. So she flipped her emotions on their head, and turned the darkest hour of her life into a call for adventure. Find out what can happen when you open yourself up to the power of “yes.”

About the speaker
Amelia Isabel Torres is a Texas-born, Georgia-grown, Austin-transplanted nomad. In December, she completed a year of road trips across South America, North America, and Europe for a combined total of 48,000 highway and air miles. In January, she earned her Master's of Arts degree in Humanistic and Existential Psychology with a specialization in Creativity Studies from Saybrook University in California. Her research explored how fear shapes the creative process. Now she's the host of a new podcast series entitled, Shaping Sapiens, which spotlights stories of the modern-day Hero on his or her modern-day Journey.
