part of a series on Crossroads

About the speaker

Unfair by Design
The role of design in gender equity efforts (and why we are not there yet).

There is no design without intention, and there should be no design without responsibility.

No matter your job title, we are all designing something: products, processes, tools, events, and more. We all have the power to use our voices to leave a positive mark.

In this talk, Ana will combine her love for design with her frustration over social injustice through the lens of gender inequity. She will share deeply personal stories alongside real-world product examples that will hopefully be eye-opening enough to inspire change.

Ana Luiza is a multidisciplinary designer, though she finds the term “multidisciplinary” a bit overused and cringe. Still, she has done a bit of everything when it comes to design and currently works at the intersection of design and technology. Born and raised in Recife, Brazil, she has been living in Germany since 2006, with Düsseldorf as her Wahlheimat. A serial networker, Ana is always starting new groups, hosting sessions, facilitating discussions, and bringing people together.
