About the speaker

Anzia Bennett is the Director of Three Sisters Kitchen, a community food space in the heart of downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. She works with local health systems, small farmers, and community-based organizations to develop wellness and economic engagement programming that is responsive to community-articulated needs and addresses the social and structural determinants of health. For five years, Anzia served as the Food Access Program Director for the Agri-Cultura Network, a farmer-owned cooperative in Albuquerque’s South Valley, where she worked to make locally grown, healthy food affordable and accessible to all. During that time she taught Community Nutrition at the University of New Mexico and led a monthly series of community cooking classes at First Choice Community Healthcare. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Director of Working Classroom, a non-profit arts and education organization serving young, aspiring artists and actors in Albuquerque for eight years. Anzia received a Masters in American Studies and a Masters in Public Health from the University of New Mexico and serves on the Rio Grande Farmer Coalition Board of Directors, and the Working Classroom Board of Directors. She was an Advanced Leadership Training Program Fellow with the Regional Institute for Health and Environmental Leadership and a W.K. Kellogg Foundation Community Leadership Network Fellow.
