About the speaker

Jordan Verdin was born and raised in North County. He is a visual storyteller that utilizes his camera to build bridges. After obtaining his degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peace Building from CSU Dominguez Hills, he decided to intersect his passion for photography and storytelling to dismantle stereotypes and stigmas and humanize people by sharing their stories. Jordan's intent is that everyone sees the shared Humanity we all have.

Since 2014, Jordan has worked closely with the homeless community, building friendships that allowed him to capture their portraits and stories. He has photographed and interviewed over 300 people experiencing homelessness in Oceanside, Ca, and over 700 people throughout the country. Through those interviews, he learned of the lack of access to hygiene for people experiencing homelessness which paved the way for him to found Humanity Showers. Humanity Showers provides mobile showers for the community six days a week in Oceanside and multiple San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles locations.
