About the speaker
For Britney Helmers, the path, or Camino, to her current role as Executive Director of the South Salt Lake Arts Council has been a deliberate and winding journey of discovery. Her road has stretched from the heart of Ohio to the historic streets of Savannah, and through the urban landscapes of Chicago and Denver before finally landing in Salt Lake City.
Along the way, Britney has constantly evolved, transitioning from Interior Designer to Project Manager, to non-profit Director, gaining the unique tools needed to lead the arts with a business sense of mind. Each city and every role has shaped her firm belief that a thriving creative scene is the lifeblood of a strong economy.
Today, she is a devoted advocate for the "business of art," helping creators navigate their own paths toward entrepreneurship and using public art as a bridge to bring people together.
A 4-year varsity athlete who is happiest on a mountain bike trail or exploring a new horizon, Britney views her career as a continuous trail and one where she has cultivated deep community roots, but is nowhere near done exploring or building.
