Camino with Renske Visser

Architecture & Design Museum

part of a series on Camino (kah·MEE·noh) | Way/Path

About the speaker

Renske Visser is a Medical Anthropologist originally from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oulu, and the Consular Officer at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Helsinki.

Her research interests include the broad topics of ageing, dying and death. She has conducted research on parental bereavement in young adulthood, homemaking in later life, ageing in secure psychiatric hospitals, cancer care in prison. Presently, she is exploring how and when to engage children with the topic of death.

She is co-host of the Death Studies Podcast and runs the blog Dead Good Reading. In this talk Renske will not offer any clear cut answers but instead invite you to reflect on your own journey with death, the assumptions, fears and possibilities that emerge when thinking about this topic. Embracing death does not kill you, but may well invite you to walk the path of life to the fullest.
