Who do you want to be when you grow up?
About the speaker
Caren Kelleher is the founder and CEO of Gold Rush Vinyl and the new co-owner of Waterloo Records & Video. She moved to Austin in 2017 to build Gold Rush Vinyl and answer the renewed demand for vinyl records. Since opening, Gold Rush Vinyl has pressed over 1 million records for independent artists and is proud to be 100% woman-owned. Under Caren's leadership Gold Rush Vinyl also expanded its services to include manufacturing genuine 24-karat gold and platinum albums and upcycling damaged vinyl into new merchandise for artists.
Prior to starting Gold Rush Vinyl, Caren was the Head of Music App Partnerships for Google Play, leading the company's work with top mobile developers like Spotify, Pandora and Shazam. She was originally recruited to Google to join the launch team of Google Music and create programs for independent musicians. She started her career at Paste magazine before joining Songkick and then starting her own band management firm.
Caren holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, which now teaches a case on Gold Rush Vinyl as part of the required curriculum. Her entrepreneurial journey has been covered by media outlets like The TODAY Show, Forbes, The New York Times and Billboard. She is proud to serve as an elected officer of The Recording Academy's Texas chapter and to sit on the board of multiple non-profits. For her efforts in the Austin community, Caren was recently awarded Best CEO of 2023 by Austin Business Journal.
