For our third virtual gathering of 2020, we explore the world-wide theme of “NATURE” by way of learning about the collaborative nature between three talented Denver artists - Andrea Slusarski, Kathleen Hooper, & Aubrey Mable. This CreativeMornings talk will be part musical performance as a celebration, part storytelling to connect to our guests, and part discussion so you leave equipped to create and take on the new world ahead. We’ll learn how these three creative spirits have come to work together, how nature itself is a shared affinity, and how it provides creative fuel for each of them individually and collectively. We’ll hear their thoughts on creativity as part of our human nature and how it’s in our nature to collaborate and co-create TOGETHER…especially when things get funky, wild, and uncomfortable.

About the speaker

LVDY (pronounced LADY) is a Colorado-based indie-folk duo comprised of Kathleen Hooper & Aubrey Mable. Their sound is inspired by their ideal recipe of singer-songwriter, folk, dance, pop, and electronic synth, with powerful melodies and harmonies that speak to the senses. They find inspiration in the outdoors and draw influence from artists like Maggie Rogers, Rising Appalachia, Joseph and Sara Bareilles. 303 Magazine writes “Mable’s warm rasp complements Hooper’s bright and clear vocals. With an acoustic guitar, the occasional tambourine and their harmonies, LVDY makes honest music enveloped in positive vibes to fill those sunny Colorado afternoons. Don’t miss this dynamic duo as they break into the scene in the coming months.

Say hi! They’d love to hear from you.

Drawing From Nature is a creative design studio operated by Andrea Slusarski (she/her). Andrea is an artist, professor and sketchbook adventurer based in Denver, Colorado. Fascinated by Flow & Creativity, her work and teaching processes are fueled by this curious study - finding lines to ride & lines to draw is her calling. Inspired by these lines found in nature and carved through snow, Andrea’s sketchbooks are filled with the images and words connected throughout the landscapes she explores. Drawing From Nature has collaborated with many nature inspired companies - Osprey Packs, Coalition Snow, Something Independent, Westfax Brewery, and LVDY to name a few. Her work has also been published in SISU Magazine, The Art of Education, and Elevation Outdoors voters named her “Best People/Instagrammer” for the Best of the Rockies 2019.

Andrea works out of her home studio in Colorado and is an associate professor of Art Education at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design.
