Thom discusses how his artistic practice requires he navigate the relationships between creative visions of various stakeholders in the film industry, and how that has led to some of his greatest artistic achievements.

About the speaker

Thom Botwood is an illustrator who works in the film industry illustrating works for feature films and their Oscar winning designers such as Jenny Beavan, Colleen Atwood and Sandy Powell.

Thom was Disney’s 'Hand of Cruella' and costume concept illustrator for the live action reimagining of Cruella in 2021. He has provided concepts & works for Snow White, Star Wars, Mad Max, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice & Wednesday Addams.

His style of illustration is traditional yet contemporary using an ink and dip nib pen which has been commissioned by iconic companies including The Savoy Hotel where his work hangs in the recently refurbished Savoy – Gordon Ramsay’s Grill.

Thom's talk will be held in Chapter Arts cinema, where he'll be discussing his illustrations and showing the development of his work from concept to the cinema screen.
