Celebrate a community success story that wouldn’t have happened – without a community of support.

They took a plot of land no one wanted and saw the promise, transforming it into something full of hope and impact – a neighborhood designed to succeed. Cydney Franklin is on the front-lines of this revitalizing effort, driven by a life-long love of community.

About the speaker

An Omaha native, Cydney Franklin has managed community and economic development programs for more than 8 years. She is currently the Senior Program Director at 75 North, an organization founded in 2011 with one purpose: to facilitate creating healthy, sustainable, mixed-income communities in the Highlander neighborhood.

“Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and community deterioration by building thriving schools, recreational facilities, and other amenities to attract new public and private investment to the area.

The Highlander neighborhood was an easy choice as the first redevelopment project for 75N. Located approximately eight blocks north of former CHI Health Creighton Medical Center, it is well positioned for redevelopment for several reasons.

We believe that the Highlander neighborhood can, will – and must – flourish.”

“The reason that I love community – and the reason I love people so much – is because all of this (the Highlander Neighborhood) has happened because of really community-focused, forward-thinking, and if we’re honest, brave early investors. It involves actual artists, artists who live across the street, artists that are from this neighborhood who have helped 75 North in this community, in this effort to revitalize that involves the City of Omaha, educators, committed parents and stakeholders.” — Cydney Franklin
