A foreigner in strange lands searches for a new beginning (and a new accountant)
Originally from Australia, Diane Lee has been in Hanoi since November 2016. She has seen plenty of endings… and beginnings… since leaving her country and arriving in Vietnam. An ending led to her to founding her company, Delicious Consulting Vietnam in January 2019. Diane will share her experiences starting a company in Vietnam as a foreigner, including registering the business and the importance of finding a good accountant!
About the speaker
Diane Lee has been in Hanoi for just over two years, where she arrived from Australia. With a Master of Arts in Communication Management, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Arts, she has worked with government, universities, not-for-profit and services industries in Australia in marketing communications and organisation development.
Since arriving in Hanoi, she has written for Forbes Travel Guide, Word Magazine, Paradise Vietnam, The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel, edited the Vietnam Social Science Review and trained staff at Asia DMC in business English. Diane volunteered and then worked for KOTO — an award-winning social enterprise that trains at-risk youth in hospitality — for more than one year.
In her spare time, Diane volunteers at Keep Hanoi Clean — a social enterprise start-up — as a Communications and Fundraising Director. She would love to travel more of Vietnam and Asia.
