Our road in life

About the speaker

Dr. Rebecca Hufft is a conservation biologist whose work is rooted in the idea of journey. As Associate Director of Climate Resilience at Denver Botanic Gardens, she has guided plant conservation projects since 2011, helping landscapes adapt and endure in a changing climate. Her work in ecology, biodiversity, and restoration explores how living systems evolve over time, and how each careful step shapes what comes next.

Becky holds a doctorate in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UC Santa Cruz, completed postdoctoral research at Colorado State University, and previously served as a senior scientist with the National Ecological Observatory Network. She also mentors graduate students as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Colorado Denver, supporting the next generation of scientists as they find their own paths.

Much like a pilgrimage, conservation is not a single destination but an ongoing practice of attention, patience, and trust in long-term transformation. Becky’s work reminds us that meaningful change happens step by step, season by season, and that the paths we tend today shape the world we walk into tomorrow.
