On Saturday, March 29th Hector Hougaard will explain that it has actually not been proven that parallel lines never meet - it’s an assumption based on our (faulty) sense of the world! It took over a thousand years for this assumption to be questioned and resulted in an entirely new branch of geometry to be discovered. The discovery of this new branch invites us to explore what assumptions we hold in our own lives and what might result from challenging them. Together we will explore the world of Euclidean geometry, especially the notion of parallel lines, and what resulted in what we now call Non-Euclidean Geometry.
