Amanda Assing

Creative Producer | FieldTrips at CreativeMornings, SF.

San Francisco

Amanda (#amandaland!) is a creative producer, communications strategist, and extroverted connector. As a hybrid in business and design, she grew up in the ad and marketing world, partnering with art & design executives building all sorts of fun stuff. From 9-5 she’s a PM for One Workplace, a commercial design company and furniture dealer. And from 5-9, she is an event producer for Creative Morning FieldTrips, and a freelance creative producer. She loves exotic plants, sunny travel, modern vintage, and open spaces to play. Sustainability is part of her everyday.

About this FieldTrip

Did you know there’s a Paper Mill in the Mission, AND you can make your own paper? We just discovered it, and can’t wait to show you.

What is paper? Behind every piece of paper lies a human dream. It is the thing that holds your ideas together. Thoughts to come to life on paper. Your sketches, your doodles and designs are realized.

How is it made? This thin material is produced by pressing together moist pulp made from fibres (like wood, cotton, or grasses) then drying them into flexible sheets. The use of cloth in the process has always produced high-quality paper, perfect for for pen and ink drawings, and special invitations.

In this workshop, Pam DeLuco, will show us how it’s done using cotton cloth pulp to make your own handmade paper note cards. Come get immersed in this craft at Shotwell Paper Mill.

All materials will be supplied.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
