How can we change the software of people?
What is flow, and how can it help us in designing change? A story about Judo, activism, design and entrepreneurship. About how nothing’s fixed, and how to deal with that.
About the speaker
Jan is a designer, entrepreneur and activist working on circular economy and social innovation. As a strategic business designer, he believes that a structural shift towards sustainability can only be reached if we also look into the underlying logic of our systems. He is always looking for the overlap between activism and entrepreneurship, technology and community. As an industrial designer, Jan quickly shifted his focus from designing content (products, services, processes) towards designing context (business models, innovation methodologies, policy). He is also the co-founder of switchrs, a strategic innovation agency that focuses on business model development in circular economy and social impact.

Activism is about actions, it is not about –isms. It doesn't really matter if we all think the same, is about how can we make change go further.
I see activism as a sort of compass, and I use my entrepreneurship skills as a map to actually make stuff happen. And then use design as the default mindset to actually go there.
There is no changing the system if you don't partake in it
Facts don't change our societal system, our interpretation of reality does, what we do with the facts does.
We don't need more star designers, more ego entrepreneurs nor more angry citizens. We need more change.
