My photography brought me back.

After a catastrophic motorcycle accident required countless surgeries to repair him, Jared Moossy had to relearn … everything. The photography he’d done before his accident spurred his memories, many lost to the accident, and gave home a touchstone back to himself, to the friends and strangers who’d supported him, and to the career he loved.

About the speaker

Jared Moossy is a BFA Parsons School of Design graduate in photography who joined Local 600 in 2018. He has always been fascinated with the myriad artful ways to capture the play of light and shadow in a picture. After working as a conflict photographer for over a decade, Austin-based Moossy made a seamless transition to cinematography. Lending a philanthropic eye to the lens, he was able to capture both the tragedy of war and the beauty of the people impacted.

This photographic/documentarian background yields a unique aesthetic vision to his cinematic work – one that skillfully elicits emotion while preserving the beauty of the moving picture. Some of his recents projects include:
