About the speaker

Jessie makes art in multiple mediums, but for the last several years has primarily been a printmaker. He works in letterpress, woodcut/linocut, monotype, and cyanotype, and has been active in the Omaha art community for over 20 years. Whether it’s experiments with processes, or more direct socio-political messaging , the work encourages questioning what’s possible. Jessie’s work often deals with issues of class power imbalance, the aesthetics of class, and how that relates to professionalism / academia. Jessie approaches creative practice as being naturally anti-capitalist. Along with his partner Amanda, Jessie maintains a full printmaking studio at their home in Benson. Together, they ran an art/community space called “Media Corp.” and have also been involved with community groups such as “Midtown Mutual Aid”.
