John Gutzler, ASID, IIDA
John Gutzler has been a Principal with Ford, Powell & Carson for more than thirty six years, and serves as Director of the firm’s Architecture Interiors Division. His work includes corporate interiors, museums, private residences, and both renovation and new construction for some of Texas’s major public and private institutions. Projects include The McNay Art Museum, The Chinati Foundation in Marfa Texas, HEB Corporate Headquarters, the Argo Group Corporate Headquarters, the San Antonio Area Foundation Offices, and the University of Texas at San Antonio. John has designed award-winning projects including ranch homes in South Texas, and does a great deal of philanthropic and pro-bono work for art organizations and non-profits. His eye for detail and craft result in products with an intimate understanding and reflection of human scale, and he is a champion for perpetuating the legacy of the firm’s founder, renowned regional modernist O’Neil Ford. John holds a Masters of Architecture and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University. He is a Registered Interior Designer in the state of Texas and a member of both the IIDA and the ASID.
