“Our only hope of being an ethical person is to be clear on your values.”

Karen Landolt, after first sharing her feelings around her name “Karen”, speaks on values and the way that you view the world – and how it plays a role in shaping our behavior and decision making. She discusses her perspective on creativity, including her own creative ethos of finding fun in everything. We are reminded of the importance of vulnerability and bravery in shaping our ethos and in helping us to be authentic and true to ourselves.

About the speaker

Karen Landolt has taught, coached, and led in nonprofit, legal, and academic settings for over 25 years. Equally obsessed with pop culture and coaching others to lead with their strengths, she finds creative ways to integrate service, experiential learning, and interactive play into teaching others. Karen teaches Business Law, Behavioral Ethics, Intellectual Property Law, Negotiations, and Social and Cultural Entrepreneurship at UT Austin. She's won awards for teaching innovation and was admitted into the Provost Teaching Fellows 22–23 cohort. In addition to serving as director of two UT Austin career services offices, Karen is a founding partner of *Engage Leadership Consulting. When she's not supporting others as they figure out answers to the big questions, she indulges her obsessions: reading YA, creating found art mixed-media assemblages, and soaking up pop culture at film and television festivals.
