What will remain when we’re gone? Architect and designer Klemens Sitzmann takes us on a journey through speculative architecture and imagined futures—where design becomes a tool to explore time, transformation, and the debris we might leave behind.

Klemens Sitzmann will present his personal design research, developed during his work as an architect.  The projects shown represent a tentative exploration of the trajectories of the deep future. What forces will shape our planet?  How long will humankind remain the dominant life form on Earth?  His work begins with speculative architecture and gradually evolves into more abstract artistic expressions.

About the speaker

Klemens Sitzmann is an architect and designer born in Italy and practises in Berlin.

He has gained professional experience in the design teams of AECOM in Los Angeles, Asymptote Architecture in New York and GRAFT in Berlin. In 2021 Klemens founded his architecture studio.

When not working on architecture, Klemens uses his computer to create high resolution digital patterns.

His goal is to expand the visual library of forms and shapes, to produce intricate and complex drawings.

Klemens‘s artworks aim to produce the shapes and forms he deems missing from our rationalistic, everyday lives.

By harnessing the power of algorithms and code, he produces intricate works of art that are unique in their shape grammar.

He currently works as a freelance architect and has taught design studios at different universities.
