About the speaker
Ling Chun is a Hong Kong–born, Seattle-based artist working primarily in ceramics, where she pushes the boundaries of the medium through unexpected material combinations - incorporating neon, fur, wood, and hair into her work. Her pieces explore identity, belonging, and the layered meaning of home, shaped by her experience moving between cultures and reimagining what we carry with us.
Through bold, tactile forms and surprising contrasts, Ling expands what clay can be - not just as a material, but as a language for memory, transformation, and personal history. Her work invites viewers to look more closely, to question assumptions, and to find new meaning in the familiar.
Beyond her studio practice, Ling is a dedicated educator, sharing her curiosity and experimentation with the next generation of artists as an instructor at North Seattle College and through other teaching spaces. Her approach to making - open, exploratory, and deeply thoughtful - continues to inspire both her students and the broader creative community.
