About the speaker

For five years, Lucy Revill interviewed and photographed Wellingtonians on her blog, The Residents. Her first book, The Residents: Made in Wellington, was the culmination of this project, sharing 38 inspiring stories about how people – some prominent, some unsung heroes – are shaped by life in the capital. With rare vulnerability, they allowed Lucy into their homes, businesses and studios, giving a behind-the-scenes look at how they live and work in food, fashion, arts and small business. The book was crowdfunded by her community and raised $37,000. Lucy has written for The Spinoff, Sunday Star Times and other publications. She is a lifelong resident of the capital and lives with her husband Matt in Mount Victoria and by day she is currently a policy analyst.
