This CreativeMornings talk explores how a simple love for tea led to a life-changing pivot. Discover how moments of uncertainty can brew into clarity, purpose, and a whole new path.

About the speaker

In 2011, Michael Ortiz was a frustrated yoga teacher that never wanted to run out of tea again. His teacher introduced him to the practice of tea, and the flavored cheap stuff in the stores simply couldn’t cut it anymore. With $2000, he started JoJo Tea. Today, JoJo Tea has sold tea to over 400 restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, country clubs, and cruise lines. They opened their first private tasting room in 2016, and in 2019 Michael won the first American Championship of the Tea Masters cup. They moved to their current location in July of 2020 and continue to host private tastings and public sessions, including standup comey shows, film screenings, intimate concerts, figure drawing sessions, and more. What started as a dream of never running out of tea has turned into an open question: how good can tea get?
