Moksha Rao on Innovation

About the speaker

Moksha Rao is a designer and performing artist from Bombay, India, and is currently based in Sacramento, California. Her work is intuitive and thoughtful, translating the complex into the clear. She has worked with brands such as The Weather Channel, IBM, Ogilvy, Mapbox, and Jeep, and is currently a Senior Product Designer at MyFitnessPal. She holds an MFA in Graphic Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she graduated as Excelsus Laureate. As a performer, Moksha blends the Indian classical dance form of Bharata Natyam, the spiritual practice of Yoga, and the circus art of Contortion into her distinctive fusion style. She has performed for clients including Coca-Cola, the Crocker Art Museum, Zoo Atlanta, and Creative Mornings. Rooted in her Indian heritage yet accessible to global audiences, her act bridges cultures and disciplines. Moksha’s talk will explore how she innovated in the fields of design and dance as she made her way from India to the US, and her journey as an immigrant navigating both disciplines in two countries.
