About the speaker
Dr. P. N. Ravindra is a water management expert who served the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for over three decades, culminating his tenure as Chief Engineer. He currently serves as Advisor to the Karnataka Industrial Development Board (KIADB). Known for his forward-thinking approach, he played a pivotal role in transforming BWSSB’s operations by introducing smart water management systems, including real-time digital monitoring to reduce water loss—at one point nearly 45% of the supply was unaccounted for. As Chief Engineer of the Cauvery division, he also led modernization efforts such as upgrading decades-old pumps, resulting in improved efficiency and energy savings.
B.M. Manjunath served in the BWSSB (Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board) for 37+ years since 1986 and retired as Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) and Public Relations Officer (PRO). As a civil engineer, he was involved in maintenance of water supply, sanitary systems and treatment plants, and the 2nd stage Cauvery laying project work. In his last 5 years of tenure, Mr Manjunath was instrumental in the conception of the Rain Water Harvesting Theme Park at Jayanagar and in public awareness building about water conservation and rain water harvesting.
