As is often the case, a lot is a question of perspective. This also applies to the perception of colors. What comes to mind when you think of pink? For the artist Nici Jost, the theme of perspective is a fundamental aspect of her artistic exploration of the color pink. She draws attention to how the perception of color can shape individual and collective emotions and experiences. She draws her inspiration from exploring the subtle nuances of pink and its ability to reveal various psychological and socio-cultural dimensions, which in turn expand perspectives on gender roles, aesthetics and identity. In her artistic practice, Nici Jost consistently devotes herself to the color pink, its characteristic features, its history and the position that the color occupies in psychology, art, poetry, literature and politics. However, she does not only work with pink as a controversial and divisive element of social and cultural associations; For Nici Jost, pink is a socio-political lens that is able to polarize like no other color in the spectrum. FĂŒr die KĂŒnstlerin Nici Jost ist das Thema der Perspektive ein grundlegender Aspekt ihrer kĂŒnstlerischen Auseinandersetzung mit der Farbe Pink. Sie lenkt die Aufmerksamkeit darauf, wie die Wahrnehmung von Farbe individuelle und kollektive Emotionen und Erfahrungen formen kann. Ihre Inspiration bezieht sie aus der Erforschung der subtilen Nuancen von Rosa und dessen FĂ€higkeit, verschiedene psychologische und soziokulturelle Dimensionen zu offenbaren, die wiederum Perspektiven auf Geschlechterrollen, Ăsthetik und IdentitĂ€t erweitern.
Nici Jost widmet sich in ihrer kĂŒnstlerischen Praxis konsequent der Farbe Rosa, ihren charakteristischen Merkmalen, ihrer Geschichte und der Position, die die Farbe in der Psychologie, Kunst, Poesie, Literatur und Politik einnimmt. Sie arbeitet jedoch nicht nur mit Rosa als umstrittenem und spaltendem Element sozialer und kultureller Assoziationen; Rosa ist fĂŒr Nici Jost eine gesellschaftspolitische Linse, die wie keine andere Farbe im Spektrum zu polarisieren vermag.

Nici Jost (*1984) wurde in Kanada geboren und wuchs in der Schweiz auf. Nach ihrer Lehre als Fotofachangestellte und einem Studium der Fotografie war sie zwei Jahre Praktikantin bei Pipilotti Rist. Sie schloss 2016 mit einem Master in Fine Arts an der FHNW/HGK (Basel) ab. Im Jahr 2019 erschien ihre erste umfassende Publikation «Instinctive Desire». Ihre Arbeiten wurden in der Schweiz und im Ausland gezeigt und in renommierte private und öffentliche Sammlungen in Europa und Nordamerika aufgenommen. Mehr zu Nici

2004 hat Philipp Brogli mit dem ArtstĂŒbli eine Plattform fĂŒr die Vielfalt der urbanen Kunst von Graffiti bis Street Art geschaffen. 2014 wurde ArtstĂŒbli als Galerie in den Rundbauten der Markthalle Basel heimisch. Seit 2022 erweitern die Labels ARTYOU Installation, ARTYOU Culinary und ARTYOU Performance das Spektrum um installative, kulinarische und performative KĂŒnste.
