Fefe is a 25 year old Toronto creative of Haitian descent. She has been writing in any way shape or form ever since she was old enough to hold a pen and make it bleed words onto paper. As of February 2023, Fefe has been doing Spoken Word for 2 years. She writes from the experience of the Black woman, the immigrant child, the middle sister, the sister that raised the children, the survivor, the sexual being and the human being. Fefe has been the only international member of a few poetry collectives including the Erotic Honey Drippers and the lucrative Deadly pens. Fefe is also the only international member of the Harlem Bombshelter. She published her first book Counting Bodies in 2019 and is aiming to publish another volume of poetry this year.

About the speaker

Nicola Hamilton (she/her) is an independent creative based in Toronto, Canada.

The bulk of Nicola’s work has been focused on editorial design, acting as a graphic designer and art director for a variety of publications. She began her career at the beloved, city-weekly The Grid (2011-2014.) She’s spent time as Chatelaine’s Deputy Art Director (2015-2017) where she helped lead the team through a redesign of both their print and digital properties and establish video and Facebook LIVE platforms and at Studio Wyse (2017-2020) where she helped redesign, reposition and produce publications for clients such as The University of Toronto Magazine, Ryerson University Magazine, The Globe and Mail, and Creative Destruction Lab.

Nicola is a part-time design educator at the George Brown College School of Design. She's the President of The Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD), a Certified RGD, and an active Board Member. She also maintains an artistic practice via The Scaries, an exploration of the emotional realities of being creative and has presented a handful of talks on the topic.

In July 2022, Nicola opened Issues Magazine Shop, a retailer of independent magazines from around the world located in Toronto's west end. Issues exists to celebrate the people and projects keeping print alive. It's is a clubhouse, a gathering place for magazine lovers, and what Nicola hopes will be a catalyst for innovation, collaboration, and a new generation of independent media in Canada.
