About the speaker

Aliyeh Rizvi is a place-based storyteller, history-writer and memory archivist whose work explores the intersection of urban spaces, identity and belonging, while using walking, memory and imagination as tools for participatory storytelling. By documenting personal and place-based narratives, she transforms individual experiences into collective cartographies that reveal the city’s socio-cultural and emotional landscape and position it as a site of shared experiences. She is the author of several archival publications, and has written for leading dailies and publications including the National Geographic Traveller India. She was also an invitee to the Bangalore Tourism Advisory Committee (GoK). As co-founder of The Memory Maps Project with Arzu Mistry, her practice draws inspiration from environmental psychology and psychogeography in order to bridge past and present, and help individuals and communities navigate urban change while maintaining meaningful connections to place.
