An Apprenticeship with Water

For Patricia Garcia-Gomez, ethos is a quality of presence, about how you move through the world – and also how the world moves through you. When she left the world of corporate advertising in NYC to do a creative residency on the Greek island of Naxos, she cultivated a daily ritual of ocean swims, one that she has since maintained year-round in Long Island, no matter the temperature and conditions. The potential for magic and metamorphosis draws Garcia-Gomez back to the water every day. In her CreativeMornings/NYC talk, she’ll share how invitations to metamorphosis are closer than you think. Join us on October 7 and learn how to welcome everyday rituals that connect you to nature and into your life.

About Patricia Garcia-Gomez

Patricia Garcia-Gomez is a water-practitioner, sensory immersion artist, and the creator of RewildRestore. As the founder of RewildRestore, she invites people into the water as part of a daily practice of listening, sensing, connecting, and knowing. The inspiration began when was in creative residency on the island of Naxos, immersing herself in the soul of the land. While living in a monastery and creating site-specific multi-sensory installations, she began swimming in the Aegean every day. What started out as a refreshing break in the day turned into a life-changing water practice. She is now a year-round swimmer, including freezing winter water temperatures as low as 33 degrees. With the sea as a teacher and guide, she has created a Water Practice that is both physical and meditative, new and ancient, holding and healing, often in transformative ways. And the only thing she loves more than her morning swim ritual is introducing people to water. “To introduce someone to the water is to invite them into a relationship. With the sea, the self, with ceremony, the yet to be revealed, and the ready to be released. That’s where the magic happens. ”

Out of water, Patricia Garcia-Gomez is also an award-winning brand creator. She is recognized for crafting the narratives of some of the world's biggest brands, and some of its most beloved. She’s currently focused on helping idea leaders create the narrative that places them powerfully and genuinely at the center of their own story and sphere of influence, often creating new languages for what they do.
