How do self-cultivation and spiritual growth link with ink? What are the visual results of Pan’s project, the art of losing, and how is losing the prerequisite for attaining “true pride?”

About the speaker

What is the art of losing? On August 25th, ink artist Pan Jianfeng will treat the CreativeMornings/Helsinki crowd to less-explored positive aspects of losing – together with visual tidbits of his artistic oeuvre, as part of an up close and personal take on this month’s global theme, Pride.

After nearly two decades working as a graphic artist in Shanghai, Pan opted to let go in order to gain. On the horizon: a more simple, solitary life in Porvoo and the pursuit of his path as “son of calligrapher.” Pan devotes his time to uncovering the endless possibilities intrinsic to paper and ink, both paying respect to calligraphy – his late father’s life’s passion – and using it as a resource to create something completely new.

How do self-cultivation and spiritual growth link with ink? What are the visual results of Pan’s project, the art of losing, and how is losing the prerequisite for attaining “true pride?” Only one way to find out! Meet us at the Design Museum for a Tea Ceremony by Nari Tea Lab starting at 8 am followed by the talk plus a short Q&A at 9 am. We’re proud of our community, open for all – come see why. <3
