Rhianna C. Rogers discusses strategies for developing intercultural competencies, a critical skill in today’s globalized world.

This presentation uses anthropology (the study of human behavior) and Rogers’ personal experiences to highlight the importance culture plays in everyone’s lives. The goal is to teach cross-cultural understanding, respect, personal reflection and compassion for each other as members of a globalized community. About the speaker

Dr. Rhianna C. Rogers is an educator, cultural advocate, world traveler, and cross-cultural thinker. She has won multiple awards for her innovative approach to teaching and learning, including, most recently, the 2018 State University of New York (SUNY) Diversity Equity and Inclusion award for her longitudinal study of Western New York culture and the 2017-2018 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her experiences teaching and traveling in the US, Middle East, Europe, and Latin America have pushed her to be curious and inclusive of diverse perspectives as well as an advocate for cross-cultural engagement. Overall, Dr. Rogers enjoys meeting new people, traveling to new places, and experiencing all life has to offer.
