The Comedy Club

Brooklyn, 11201

About this Club

Interested in writing comedy and prefer writing around others before hitting the open mic?

Like writing humorous essays/short stories/screenplays/novellas/whatever and want a productive environment to work quietly, spitball, or get opinions?

Just want to filter our absurd reality through a comedic lens with other people?

This club is for all of that, alternating between themed get-togethers and prompts or unstructured free time.

A comedy writing study hall/salon for the semi-motivated extrovert, the anxiety ridden procrastinater, the chronic over-scheduler, the curious but intimidated, people who give unsolicited opinions, complainers, aspiring stand-ups, aspiring screen writers, aspiring humorous essayists, people who think they’re funny but nobody else does, people who don’t think they’re funny but everybody else does, or anybody who wants to buy me something.

We will write. We will bullshit and vent. We will learn. We will give each other ideas.

⏰ CLUB START TIME

We offer a 30-minute “Window of Arrival” time where you can get settled, share snacks, sign in, and chat with one another. But also, you know, drop-in whenever. No big.

👉 For example…If your Club start time is 1:00pm, expect to get things going around 1:30pm. Or later.

👉 We offer this flex window because we know folks are coming from many different places around town. With that said, please try your best to arrive before 30 minutes past the start time as the activities will be getting started then.

ABOUT YOUR HOST

I am a maladjusted malcontent with ADHD and a smart mouth. Sometimes I’m funny on purpose. I’m a former blackjack dealer with 17 years of film industry trauma, and I use that for material. Let’s all be tired and traumatized together, because healthy emotional boundaries are what keep our society divided.
