About this FieldTrip

What do Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, entrepreneur Arianna Huffington, and author Joan Didion have in common?

They all use writing as a tool to spark their creativity, improve their mental health and calm their mind.

This FieldTrip is an hour of focused writing time to help you spark new ideas, look after your mental health and be creatively inspired. The London Writer’s Salon has helped 30,000+ writers harness the power of writing through 4 x daily ‘Writers’ Hour’ sessions.

We’ll kickstart our session with a short 15-minute creative writing prompt. We’ll then work on our writing projects for 40 minutes. At the end, we’ll call you back for a gentle checkout.

This session will be facilitated by London Writers’ Salon Cofounder Parul Bavishi and Community Lead & Writing Coach Kathryn Koromilas.

Agenda

  • This is a 1-hour writing session facilitated by a London Writers’ Salon co-founder. Here’s how the hour will be spent:

  • ✔️ 15 minutes of a journaling exercise to spark your creative flow.

  • ✔️ 40 minutes of focused writing, working alongside fellow creatives. Everyone is muted.

  • ✔️ In the final 5 minutes, we’ll check out together.

  • We encourage you to bring a writing project you would love to make progress on.

  • Don't have a specific writing project? Simply bring a pen and notebook.

What to know or bring

  • Bring a writing project and/or a pen and paper to write on.

How to make the most of FieldTrips

The FieldTrips experience is defined not only by what the host has to share, but also by how we show up individually and collectively. The way we show up impacts our capacity to be moved, inspired, and activated.

Show up fully

Get ready to be immersed! Engage with smiles, nods, waves, emojis. Share in the chat. Get cozy. Turn off notifications. Sip your favorite beverage.

Stay curious

Wear your beginner’s hat. Go with the flow. Welcome the stumbles and fumbles. Congratulate yourself for trying. Keep going!

Celebrate your host

Our hosts are members of the CreativeMornings community—just like you! Everyone comes to this with different backgrounds—a lot of our hosts have never done anything like this before! And we love that! Cheer them on when something goes awry and when it goes perfectly.

Support each other

We’re all figuring things out in real time. Celebrate, rather than critique emerging ideas. Cheer each other on as you try new things.  Try “Yes! And…” in conversation.

Not vibing?

It’s 100% okay when a FieldTrip does not resonate with you. Pop out quietly and try another experience later. Fill out the survey with your feedback (no dms to host or chat commentary, please.)
