A practitioner of the ancient art of ​avadhāna​ (a classical literary sport), I started performing avadhāna at the age of twenty-three and have performed over nineteen ​avadhānas in Kannada with elements of Sanskrit blended in it. I have also been a ​pṛcchaka (questioner) in more than forty avadhānas​ in various capacities.
