CreativeMornings /Auckland with Nat Cheshire, Cheshire Architects
Friday 26 July, 8:00am - 9:30am
Britomart Country Club
The word ‘space’ can conjure up a lot of different thoughts to different creative people e.g Personal space, airspace, public space, outer space, cyberspace, and the space bar are just a few takes on this theme. This month the CreativeMornings team has decided upon architectural space and we are ecstastic to have Nat Cheshire from Cheshire Architects.
Nat and Pip Cheshire lead a studio of two dozen designers and architects, founded on the master-planning of the Britomart precinct, and hell-bent on transforming architecture and the city.
In the last three years Nat has built twenty projects in Britomart alone, radically transforming nine of Auckland’s most despised city blocks.
In the last year he has led a project to adapt and rehabilitate three hectares of inner-city industrial space, generating the new City Works Depot: a precinct of bearded motorcycle mechanics and elegant, silk-enrobed beauticians.
Nat will present CreativeMornings with the motivations and mechanisms of the Cheshire studio’s latest project, Milse: a back-alley dessert restaurant that conflates old Arabic architecture with digital simulations of parametric math.
