We are thrilled to welcome Marina van Goor to the CreativeMornings stage this month! The Amsterdam-based social designer of studio MVG/CA will share her thoughts on this month’s global theme, ‘Minimal’. A little introduction is in order before Friday’s event, thus without further ado: #cmams, meet Marina - Marina, meet #cmams.

1. What is your creative profession?

Under the name MVG/CA, I work as a strategic designer on projects that focus on current issues.

Through my work, I attempt to expose deeply rooted structures and ways of thinking that influence society and organizations - my designs are meant to make you think. I bring different fields, like academia, business and the creative industry, together to create cross-disciplinary work.

I invent concepts and then choose a fitting format to bring them to life, whether that’s a film, an installation, a piece of furniture or even a company.

2. What will you be sharing with the CreativeMornings community on Friday 27 June?

At CreativeMornings I will talk about one of my latest projects, EENMAAL, the world’s first one-person restaurant. EENMAAL is a temporary restaurant where you come to as one, sit as one and eat as one, in an attractive public space for temporary disconnection.

3. How is Amsterdam and its creative scene special to you?

Amsterdam and the creative scene here is very supporting and very enthusiastic about these kind of initiatives with respect to actual issues. Many within the creative scene - including me - believe that concepts like EENMAAL, exposing actual issues in the city, have an added value to a city.

4. If stuck in a creative rut, what’s your trick to get free and let loose?

To visit New York! I love the city and I always get so inspired by the energy, the possibilities for new initiatives, the upcoming neighbourhoods, the underground, the food and so on! I was there last month and I am still energized and inspired by the visit.

Thank you Marina for this short interview! Get your tickets now to this Friday’s event at Pakhuis de Zwijger. As usual, the doors open at 8:30am. See you on the 27th!
