Liz Elam is an entrepreneur who specializes in bringing people together to foster their personal and professional goals.Â
After years of telecommuting during her career at Dell, Liz realized there had to be a better option than working isolated at home or jockeying for power outlets at coffee shops. There wasnât. So she founded Link Coworking, a membership club that provides collaborative spaces for fellow entrepreneurs including small meeting room spaces, conference room rentals and event space.
Liz is a recognized expert in the coworking field with speaking engagements at South by Southwest and the European Coworking Conference. She has also been featured in the Sunday The New York Times, Young Entrepreneur, CNBC, CNN, Austin Business Journal, Community Impact, The Austin American-Statesman, Information Week and innumerable digital media outlets.
Liz also serves as the President of The League of Extraordinary Coworking Spaces and the Executive Producer of the Global Coworking Conference Unconference.

Entry is through the door in the alley between Dean Keeton and 24th Street, one block east of Guadalupe (you cannot go up the stairs to go through the Lobby as you may have in the past, due to construction).
Paid parking is available on the stret or at the San Antonio garage, between W. 24th Street and W. 25th Street with entrance accessible from Nueces Street. There is no free parking for this event. Â

For this month’s theme of “Urbanism,” we’ll be joined by designer, strategist and inventor, Michael McDaniel.
SPEAKER
Michael McDaniel is a highly prized designer, strategist, and inventor whose work has been recognized with numerous design awards and patents and has been captured in a variety of publications.Michael has launched his own startup called Reaction, which strives to rapidly deliver housing to those in need post disaster. Michael is also a principal designer at the world-famous design and product consultancy frog design. At frog, Michael leads interdisciplinary teams to create a variety of new products and services for Fortune 100 clients including AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, Best Buy, Walt Disney, Comcast, Sharp, and MTV.You may also recognize Michael from his popular TEDxAustin talk and subsequent publicity around a new form of mass transit called The Wire, which adapts ski lift technology for use as urban circulators.

This month’s event will be held in Austin’s City Council Chambers, inside City Hall. Parking is available at nearby garages, and limited street parking is available. There will not be any special validation or rates for parking, however.

Augustâs Global Theme is âUrbanismâ
Last month, 55 CreativeMornings chapters came together for a global conversation around the topic of âSpace.â This August, weâre excited to announce our next theme: âUrbanism.â The theme was chosen by our Stockholm organizer Richard Feigin and skilled Stockholm-based illustrator Marcus Gunnar Pettersson created our monthly illustration.
Speakers are delving into all aspects of urbanism and how we interact with our built environment: such as George and Sarah Aye of Greater Good Studio, who use design to solve social problems (Chicago), to Adam GebriĂĄn, well-known âarchitect who never built anythingâ (Prague). From collecting a cityâs stories to building collaborative ecosystems, talks from this month will make you think hard about the city you inhabit and the role you play.
