CreativeMornings/Austinâs June talk kicked off with this short film about Keep Austin Fed. This group of volunteers takes food that would otherwise go to waste and puts it directly into the hands and mouths of our neighbors⊠including our leftovers.
They took what we didnât eat to the good folks at Casa Marianella, so their residents got to enjoy some tasty treats from Eden East as well.
If youâre interested in volunteering or creating some great collateral pieces for Keep Austin Fed, email us and weâll put you in touch.
Film by University of Texas students in the Creative Activist Network. Thanks for sharing it with us Emily, Daniel, Ivy, Maggie and Naomi.

This monthâs CreativeMornings theme is food and our speaker this month is Sonya Coté on Friday, June 28, 2013. Check here for details on tickets.

SPEAKER
Sonya Coté is a chef, restaurateur and co-founder of Austinâs Homegrown Revival. Marie Clairemagazine named her a âWoman on Top,â and sheâs been referred to as one of the âTop 10 Badass Women in America.âHer devotion to local farmers and the farm-to-table movement has come to fruition with her signature restaurant Eden East at Springdale Farm on the east side of Austin. Offering an eight-course tasting menu, this reservations-only weekend dinner and brunch seating puts guests at the center of the farm where the food is sourced, using ingredients that were âharvested just hours before hitting the plate.â
Sonya is also executive chef at Hillside Farmacy and was founding chef for East Side Show Room. In her early career, she used her love of illustration to get her start at Whole Foods Market, ultimately leading to a career as a chef.
HOST
This monthâs event will be held at Sonyaâs new space, Eden East. This beautiful outdoor location is located on Springdale Farm. Be prepared to park on nearby streets and be outside for the duration of the event. A rain location will be communicated, if necessary, by email the day before the event.
BREAKFAST
Breakfast will be created by Eden Eastâs sous chef, John Smith, who has worked for the last six years to create locally sourced dining experiences here in Austin. This locally sourced breakfast with locally roasted, fair-trade coffee will be first come, first served. Please plan on arriving early to enjoy this one-of-a-kind breakfast.
