In the design traditions of Scandinavian and Japanese minimalism, the paring down of possessions creates a greater sense of tranquility and ease. Simplicity invites us to imagine how rich we might feel when we make do with less.Â
But put another way, what if we imagined simplicity not in terms of absence but essence? In a world of confounding variables, layers of additional nuance and context, and the mind-boggling complexity of systems upon interdependent systems, simplicity drives us to get to the deep core of the matter. The etymological roots of simplicity refers to a single, indivisible nature. The heart unifies the whole.Â
Where can you exercise restraint and streamline excess? How will you find clarity amidst chaos?
Do you paint? Write poetry? Juggle fire? Make art out of macaroni noodles? Then we want you to show off your creative talent!

Important details for arriving at CMATX on August, 11th
Weâre excited to see yâall Friday at 8 a.m. for our talk by Luis and Hans Gramajo-Schrei on the theme of PRIDE.
We’ll be hosted at Atlassianâs office at 1401 E 5th St. Building 2, Austin, TX 78702
As always, traveling by CapMetro, bike, or rideshare is encouraged.Â
Everyone needs to check in with Atlassianâs security:
You will receive an email from Atlassian prompting you to confirm your name and email online. Doing this before you arrive will make checking in at security go faster for everyone.
Free parking and where to go:
Atlassian is going to validate parking in their garage.
Enter the parking garage on Navasota St, between 5th and 6th Streets.

Then drive down and around until you see elevators with the blue and white Atlassian logo.
Be sure to bring your parking ticket with you to have it validated when you check in.

Take the elevator to level 1 â and head to the left to the front desk, then check in on the ipads.
Hand security your parking ticket for validation when you check in. (Don’t wait to validate parking until you leave because the system takes awhile to process.)
They will give you a yellow lanyard that all guests are required to wear.

Once youâre checked in, someone from Atlassian will direct you up the stairs (or to a different elevator) to the second floor.
After our event, please turn in your yellow lanyard and check out on the ipads at the front desk.

Pride is a celebration of our truest, radiant selves and a defiance against those who expect us to dim our own light. We live in a world that often encourages us to take up less space, to conceal the parts of ourselves that canât be easily commodified or consumed. Or worse, what we reveal exposes us to oppressive actors and systems who steal away our dignity.Â
Pride is a powerful affirmation of authenticity. It gives us the grace to show up as ourselves and live in alignment with our values. It embraces every shade of our longings, our regrets, and our hopes â these beautiful and powerful things that make us who we are.Â
Pride is when you stand tall and say, âThis is who I am.â Pride is when you reclaim the parts of your identity that others might have scorned. Pride is when you raise your voice in defense of someone who is powerless, saying âEnough.â Because that someone might just be yourself. How will you unfurl yourself fully? How will you extend safety and solidarity so that we all may be unapologetically ourselves?
