Artskul is a community of streetwise scholars and learners that surf together, hand in hand, the peaceful waters of arts, crafts and science.
Launched in 2011 at the upper floor of a tattoo saloon, the Bucharest based school primarily aimed to change the perspective in which we were looking at arts: something that you’re not allowed to touch in a museum. With the strong belief that you should just stick your finger in it, it might be a dark hole, we recruited some of the best commanders - the artists, the practicians - to guide us on this road to Zion.
In Artskul’s past three years we held classes such as sound design (Victor Popescu), mixing & turntablism (DJ Undoo), sampling (Matze), journalism (Rise Project, Vlad Ursulean of Casa Jurnalistului), practical philosophy (Constantin Vica), art direction (Mircea Mocanu), writing (Iulian Tanase), video art (Mitos Micleusanu), trumpet (Sebastian Burneci), canto (Luiza Zan), drums (Piti), violin (Flora Pop) & so many other beautiful ones.
Our students are the ones that create, this is what they’re being taught, the ways to get straight to the point they should be brave enough to jump in the deep waters of creation. They make songs, mixes, poetry, judgement, movies, parties, life changing experiments.
