Amassing a trove of graphic ephemera (30,000 artefacts), Wu’s focus is Hong Kong’s rich visual culture and heritage.
To curate a collection and share it is to keep ideas alive. Wu’s treasures trace the evolution of Hong Kong communication design from the 1930s to the present day. They map underlying patterns of evolution in Hong Kong’s visual heritage and reflect ways of life, commercial activity, technological change, and shifts in culture and society.
In a world where things are easily discarded and forgotten, these seemingly mundane objects tell stories and provide much needed perspective. Remembering and recording the origins of ideas, and telling stories well are important means of building foundations to expand and iterate on those ideas while practicing respect and an understanding of value.
Join us as we reflect on John Wu’s collection and the associated stories that makeup Hong Kong.
