โSince I was born into the deteriorating Siberian empire of a family that experienced the oppression of the Soviet regime, I have a deep desire to decipher the mechanisms used by totalitarian regimes. My work deals with the life of a poet whose very individual existence presented the absurdity of the regime which haunted him.โ
