We are very excited to announce Yvonne Osei as our September #spectrum speaker! Join us September 25th, and don’t forget to RSVP for the link 🖥️

Yvonne Osei is a Ghanaian conceptual artist, fashion designer, and art educator living between St. Louis, MO and Philadelphia, PA. Her international creative practice explores the topics of beauty, colorism and the residual implications of colonialism in postcolonial West Africa and Western cultures. Osei also uses textiles and clothing as artistic mediums to foreground global socio-political
issues. Her work also invests in scrutinizing the language and commodification of history, including how the past is recorded, studied and collectively remembered as a weapon of cultural erasure and a catalyst for establishing legitimacy. Osei received her M.F.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a Chancellors Graduate Fellow, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer T. Olin Fellow, and Danforth Scholar. She received her B.F.A. from Webster University and holds an MA in Fashion Design and Business from Lindenwood University. As a visiting artist scholar, Osei has been invited to Pentecost University in Accra, Ghana, Missouri Institute of Mental Health, Sterling College in Kansas, Indiana University Bloomington, TEDxStLouis and more.
