Gathan D. Borden is the Vice President of Marketing for VisitLEX, the Lexington Convention & Visitors Bureau. In this role, he oversees the advertising, branding, marketing, public relations, social media, visitor services and web strategies for the city of Lexington as it relates to travel and tourism.
Gathan is a 13-year veteran of the tourism industry, having spent time at the Louisville
Convention & Visitors Bureau in various marketing roles, before accepting the role of Vice
President of Marketing at VisitLEX in July of 2015, where he oversees the Marketing
department and the Visitors Center. As a much sought-after industry speaker, he speaks
frequently at local, regional and national tourism conferences across the country on various marketing topics and trends, and is consistently ranked among the âMost Influential Tourism Professionals on Twitterâ.
As a bourbon lover, Gathan is a founding member of the Lexington-based Kentucky Black Bourbon Guild, which seeks to honor the history of minorityâs contributions to the bourbon industry and increase the representation of minority cultures in the spirits industry.
