I am an Amsterdam-based Czech designer with a keen interest in foreign scripts (mainly Arabic) and variable font possibilities. After finishing my studies at UMPRUM Prague and GRA Amsterdam, I published my first typeface Gestures at studio Moniker. Participation in the Alphabettes Mentorship Program led me to variable font research supported by Stimuleringsfonds and since publish my work under the name JS Type. While working at Black [Foundry], I designed the custom-made typeface Jott for the eponymous clothing brand in collaboration with Solenn Bordeau which later on won a golden medal at Grand Prix Stratégies du Design 2023. At Moniker, I collaborated on interactive design projects such as Paperstorm, Sculpture Cam, Touch for Luck, and editorial designs for sustainability-focused organizations such as Soulmates Ventures, Incien, or Haenke.
I currently work for Berlin-based type foundry NaN. Among other things, I also actively participate in exhibitions and lead workshops for students.
